These large melon shaped shells are peach with sporadic brown markings. The surface is glossy and smooth. The mouth (aperture) is extra wide leaving a nice deep cavity.
They're also known as the Indian Volute and are usually found on mud in the South China Sea.
India melon seashells were once referred to as bailer shells. Long ago, sailors used them to bail water out of their boats.
