Star Limpet
Patelloida saccharina ¾" - 1"
Star limpets are white with random black marks. They have a bowl-like oval shape with angles around the rim which make it appear to have a star shape. Also known as "Pacific Sugar Limpet".
Limpets attach themselves to hard surfaces just below the low-tide mark and hold on tenaciously when confronted with waves or predators. Star limpet shells are found among intertidal rocks.
