Have a look at these gorgeous young ruffle clams. Juvenile Tridacna Squamosa (aka: ruffle, fluted, scaly clam) measure 2 to 3 inches. That's tiny compared to the size of the adult ruffle clams which can grow up to 16 inches. Most often these shells are white, however these juveniles are quite colorful ranging in color from yellow, orange to pink.
Ruffle clams are a popular food item and are bred in captivity in a number of countries, supplying domestic and international demand.
