The Crown of Thorns Starfish gets its name from the thorny spines that cover its body. The overpopulation of these sea stars is to blame for widespread reef destruction. One starfish can consume over 65 square feet of a coral in one year. A natural predator of the crown of thorns starfish is the Triton's Trumpet Sea Shell.
